At the age of 37, two years after becoming a Mason, James became the first Stuart king of England and immediately began to persecute the Puritans, rejecting their petition to reform the Church of England along biblical lines.\par James was initiated into Freemasonry, into the Lodge of Scoon and Perth in 1601, at the age of 35. Fifteen years after taking active control of Scotland and five years before becoming English monarch, he ordered that the Masonic structure be given leadership and organisation.\par He made a senior Mason, named William Schaw, his General Warden of the Craft, and instructed Schaw to revamp the entire structure of Freemasonry into what it became today. Schaw commenced this project on 28th December 1598, on the orders of James.\par To this day, the 1611 edition of the King James Bible remains the Freemason Bible and is the edition conventionally used in secret Masonic temple rituals. \par \i http://ww2.forwilliam.org:8002/discernment/ruckmanism/KJV_freeMasons.htm\par http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_I_of_England\par \i0 The title \b Earl of Warwick\b0 is one of the oldest {\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "/wiki/England"}}{\fldrslt{\cf1\ul English}}}\cf0\ulnone\f0\fs24 {\field{\*\fldinst{HYPERLINK "/wiki/Earldom"}}{\fldrslt{\cf1\ul earldoms}}}\cf0\ulnone\f0\fs24 . When Israel entered this area, they were forced to battle Sihon and drive the Amorites out of the area (Num 21:21-22:1; Judg 11:18-23). \par {\pntext\f2\'B7\tab}It is estimated that about two million Israelite men, women, and children camped on the Plains of Moab before entering the Land. In the census taken by Moses and Eleazar the priest, 601,730 adult males were counted. If this figure is expanded to include women and children, the total number would easily have reached two million Israelites (Num 22:1; 26:3,51,63; Josh 3:1). \par {\pntext\f2\'B7\tab}While camped at Shittim, a city at the foot of the hills of Moab and on the eastern edge of the Plains of Moab, the Israelites were drawn into idol worship. When Israelite men intermarried with Moabite and Midianite women, God brought a plague on them that killed 24,000 people. God ended the plague when Phinehas, the son of Eleazer, impaled the Israelite, Zimri, and Cozbi, the Midianite woman with a spear (Numbers 25). \par {\pntext\f2\'B7\tab}The Lord commanded Moses to take vengeance against the Midianites. After defeating them, the Israelite soldiers brought the spoils of war, including women and children captives, back to their camp on the Plains of Moab. Furious because the officers had not followed his instructions, he ordered that only virgin females be spared from death (Num 31:1-18). \par {\pntext\f2\'B7\tab}It was on the Plains of Moab that God spoke through Moses the message of the book of Deuteronomy. \par {\pntext\f2\'B7\tab}It was from the Plains of Moab that Moses went up to Mount Pisgah and Mount Nebo where the Lord showed him the Promised Land before he died (Deut 34:1). The people of Israel mourned his death on the Plains of Moab for thirty days (Deut 34:8). \par {\pntext\f2\'B7\tab}Elijah was on the Plains of Moab when he was taken up to heaven in a whirlwind. He and Elisha had crossed to the eastern side of the Jordan River on dry ground at a point opposite Jericho. It is easy to imagine the chariot of fire, horses of fire, and the whirlwind sweeping across those flatlands, catching Elijah up to heaven (2 Kgs 2:8-12). \par \pard\sb100\sa100\b Athelstan, the grandson of Alfred the Great, ruled England from 924 to 940 A.D. He completed the subjection of the minor kingdoms in England, begun by his grandfather, and has been hailed as the first King of all England. The Regius poem and other ancient legends relate that Athelstan was a great patron of Masonry, and that he constructed many abbeys, monasteries, castles, and fortresses. He studied Geometry and imported learned men in these arts. To preserve order in the work and correct transgressors, the king issued a Charter o the Masons to hold a yearly assembly at York. He is also reputed to have made many Masons. The legends proceed to relate that Athelstan appointed his brother, Edwin, as Grand Master and that the first Grand Lodge was held at York in 926. The accounts state that the constitutions of English Masonry were there established and were based upon a number of old documents written in Greek, Latin and other languages. Aside from the direct implications of this legend, it is interesting to note that the King and Prince were patrons of Masonry and as such were probably speculative, rather than operative members of the craft. The fact that this concept prevailed as early as 1390 A.D., and possibly earlier, makes is easier to account for the fact that so many speculative members of high rank joined the craft in the 17\super th\nosupersub and 18\super th\nosupersub centuries.\b0\par This element of freemasonry has, in no small measure, developed as a direct result of the close association that the operative freemasons had with the design and erection of sacred buildings over thousands of years. In fact, masonic brotherhoods are known to have been in existence for at least five hundred years before the construction of King Solomon's temple at Jerusalem. http://www.freemasons-freemasonry.com/don43.html One example is the brotherhood of scholars and philosophers that was established in Egypt by the great-great-grandfather of Moses, Pharaoh Tuthmosis III (c.1468-1436 BCE), to preserve the sacred mysteries. Masonic symbols from his time are carved on the Egyptian obelisk that now stands in Central Park in New York City. Freemasons had been working on sacred buildings for more than a thousand years before the Pharaoh Tuthmosis established the brotherhood. Imhotep, who was the of Observers and the royal architect for the Pharaoh Zoser, designed the Step Pyramid at Saqqara in about 2650;BCE. He is usually credited with the invention of stone masonry. The oldest known masonry dam was constructed at Helwan, some 32 kilometres south of Cairo, in about 2600;BCE. It was called Sadd el-Kafara, the Dam of the Pagans which was a fine engineering feat and a very advanced design for its time, intended to control the flash floods and reducedamage in the flood plains. The dam was 110 metres long, 98 metres wide at the base, 56 metres wide at the crest and 14 metres high. It had a rubble core encased by rock walls and faced with dressed stone. Unfortunately, an abnormally large flash flood washed away the mid-stream section of the dam before its closure could be completed. Subsequently over several millennia the Nile River changed its course, so that the remaining section of the wall now stands in the desert. From the foregoing discussions it is evident that freemasonry has been intimately associated with the royal line of David from its very beginnings and long before King Solomon constructed the first temple at Jerusalem. This association continued through the building of the second temple by Zerubbabel and its later reconstruction by King Herod, who arranged for 1,000 priests to be trained as stonemasons to work in the sacred areas of the temple. Nor did the associationcease when the Romans destroyed the temple at Jerusalem. The early churches in Britain were constructed by freemasons who followed the teachings of the Nazarene Party founded by the Messiah. Later a huge number of Gothic churches and cathedrals were constructed in Europe and Britain to a Templar-Cistercian design, of which the cathedral of Chartres probably is the most renowned. It is clear from the Egyptian records and from the biblical descriptions of the construction of the temples at Jerusalem, as well as from the accounts given by Flavius Josephus in The Jewish Antiquities, that the association of freemasonry with buildings constructed for religious purposes has never been superficial, but has always gone to the very heart of the design and purpose of those buildings. The Council of Nicea confirmed this intimate relationship in 787, when it ruled that the arrangement belongs to the clergy and the execution to the artist in relation to the design and construction of cathedrals. Finally and of the utmost importance, it is evident that the fundamental precepts of freemasonry and indeed its whole purpose reflect the normal, which is to serve and in serving to achieve. Laurence Gardner gives a detailed history of the royal line of David, from its origins to the present day, in Bloodline of the Holy Grail, establishing beyond doubt the intimate relationship freemasonry has had with the Holy Grail since the beginning of the bloodline. It is logical and should come as no surprise that the rituals in speculative craft freemasonry, derived from the earlier rituals of the operative freemasons, are mostly based on the Hebrew Scriptures.
